Beginner Stone Mason / Laborer
We are seeking a beginner stone mason / laborer to join our team, a small design and build firm specializing in custom stonework for residential and commercial projects. Typical projects include dry stone walls, stone and paver patios, steps & walkways, fireplaces & hearths, stone veneer, and other stone features.
Responsibilities
- Transport and stage stone, tools, and other materials at the job site, by hand or using machinery such as a dump truck, dump trailer, skid steer, mini excavator, etc.
- Assist in the preparation of materials, including mixing mortar and cutting stone to specified sizes.
- Learn and develop skills in stone shaping, pointing, and setting under the guidance of experienced masons.
- Support masons in laying stone.
- Clean, maintain, and organize tools, equipment, and work areas for efficiency and safety.
- Remove debris and excess materials from completed areas.
Qualifications
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, positive attitude, and ability to work as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift and carry heavy materials (50+ lbs), work on your feet for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Prefer prior experience in masonry, construction, trailwork, or other labor-intensive trade; operating equipment such as dump trucks, skid steers, and mini-excavators; mixing mortar, etc.

Schedule & Logistics
- About 30–40 hours per week, with some variation depending on project demands and weather conditions.
- The primary work season runs from April through December, with the potential for some winter work as needed.
- Job sites are typically within a 1-hour radius of Plymouth, NH.
- Start and end times may vary slightly depending on job sites, but work typically runs from 8:00 am–4:00 pm, Monday–Friday.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines, but we generally maintain a good work / life balance and allow flexibility (for doctor appointments, etc.) when needed.
Compensation
- Pay is hourly. Starting wage is $25–35/hr based on experience.
- W-2 employee status, with payroll taxes withheld.
- Hands-on learning and skill development are encouraged, with opportunities to grow in the trade.
- Travel time if job exceeds 1 hour from Plymouth, NH.
